#Ios arm emulator for mac proThe iPad Pro has me convinced that Apple could pull it off. This hinges entirely on someone making a compelling custom arm chip that’s powerful enough to take on x86/64 machines with serious advantages. Do Intel and AMD leave enough room for such a product to exist? And if they do, is there anyone with both the resources and motivation to make it?Īnd I agree. I agree, but it all hangs on the "if", and there are two things standing in the way. If one of these companies that are targeting internal use comes out with something really competitive, and blows the market away, demand will come. They've rather stubbornly stuck with making custom cores, but they've never really shown an advantage over ARM's offerings. Nvidia, meanwhile, has never been impressive with their CPU IP. After all, x86 is one of AMD's biggest selling points. My pet theory is that K12 was AMD's nuclear option if Zen alone couldn't compete with Intel, but they'd rather not open pandora's box and commoditize the server ecosystem unless they had no choice. You familiar with the story of K12? AMD made an ARM "sister core" to Zen, but it was canceled without ever seeing the light of day. See, AMD is kinda the interesting one there.
